Just over a month after her first Oscar win for Everything Everywhere All At Once, Jamie Lee Curtis returned to the red carpet to support her godson – Jake Gyllenhaal. Curtis, 64, who is close friends with Gyllenhaal’s, 42, parents – director Stephen Gyllenhaal and screenwriter Naomi Foner – hit the red carpet with Jake at the premiere of his new film The Covenant. The Oscar–winning actress was all smiles on the red carpet to support Gyllenhal’s new movie, arriving in theaters April 21. Curtis stepped out in all black – with a black top under a black suit coat with silver–rimmed glasses. The actress accessorized with tiny heart–shaped earrings and a silver necklace with a small pendant. She completed her look with black pants and black pointed–toe pumps for her red carpet appearance. Her godson Jake Gyllenhaal rocked a nearly identical look with a black shirt under a black suit coat with black pants and shiny black dress shoes. Gyllenhaal’s new film The Covenant follows his character, U.S. Army Sergeant John Kinley, who recruits local Afghans for help interpreting the local language. He brings on Ahmed (Dar Salim) for their mission, which results in an ambush as Ahmed ultimately saves Kinley’s life. Back home, Kinley learns that Ahmed has gone on the run from the Taliban, as he heads back into enemy territory on his own to rescue the man who saved his life. The film also stars Jonny Lee Miller, Alexander Ludwig, Antony Starr and Emily Beecham, with Guy Ritchie directing. Gyllenhaal was promoting his 2021 film The Guilty when he opened up about living with his godmother Curtis during the COVID–19 pandemic. “She is just one of the most generous, loving, giving people. She has been so good to me and recently during this worldwide pandemic that the world has been going through, she housed me for a bit of time, in Los Angeles, in her guest house,” Gyllenhaal said. “It was so incredible and we became even closer than we had been. She’s just incredible,” he added. Curtis will next be seen in Disney’s highly–anticipated Haunted Mansion remake, arriving in theaters July 28. She also has an adaptation of the video game Borderlands in post–production, though it does not have a release date at this time. She also has a number of projects in various stages of production and development including The Sticky, Kay Scarpetta and Spychosis. |
